SUSTAINABILITY
Everything we do is examined for sustainability. Energy use, material use, processes, everything. Here are a couple of examples!

Cans help minimize waste by providing the longest shelf life of any package. Cans are cheaper to ship, their light weight and cube efficiency allow more product to be shipped using less fuel. Nearly 75% of all aluminum that has been produced is still in use today. Cans are easy to recycle saving $billions worth of energy each year. Plus they provide a light free environment eliminating the any chance of light spoilage "skunked beer".

Grain that has been used in the brew process can be reused to feed farm animals such as chickens, pigs & cattle. It can also be used to create dog treats, granola type energy bars or cereal mix. Our spent grain is picked up by Teriele's Dairy and fed to their heifers.

Hot water is recaptured during the heat exchange process which cools down the wort during transfer and is reused during the next brew session. This helps to greatly reduce our water consumption and energy used to heat our Hot Liquor Tank.

HEAT RECOVERY- DID YOU KNOW?
We recover heat during the brewing process that many breweries waste. We engineered and built a vapor to liquid heat exchanger to capture heat from steam during our boil because there wasn't one commercially available for our application. We also use a plate heat exhanger to recapture heat from the wort as we cool it to be fermented. These heat recovery measures save us thousands of dollars in natural gas cost, and reduces our carbon footprint.
CANNING- DID YOU KNOW?
Cans are far lighter than bottles and use less fuel to transport. There is more recycled content per package, and the material is less energy intensive to recycle. It doesn't break all over the beach where your kids are playing. Cans exclude all light, which is a key spoilage agent for beer. Plus, it has a higher coefficient of heat transfer, so it cools your beer faster! Cans are a superior package!
SMART COOLING- DID YOU KNOW?
Every brewery, distributor, and retailer is constantly using mechanical cooling systems to keep your beer at the right temperature. This uses a tremendous amount of electricity. But we are in a location that is quite cold for half the year! Why use electricity to compress coolant for giant fans to evaporate when the outside air temperature is colder than we need the storage space to be? So we set up a system that will use ambient outside air to cool if it is cold enough outside and shuts down the energy hungry refrigeration system. So much electricity, saved.
LIGHTING- DID YOU KNOW?
We use all LED and T4 Lighting for all lighting.
